The Wrong Guy

BBC Balls-up! Following Britain's high court ruling on the Apple Computer Vs Apple Corps spat, the BBC went live to air for an interview with Newswireless editor Guy Kewney. In a studio mix up they instead interviewed Guy Goma, a graduate from the Congo who had arrived at the BBC for a job interview.

The Interview proceded like this......

Karen Bowerman: Guy Kewney is editor of the technology website Newswireless.

(Look of Horror!)

KB: Hello, good morning to you.

Mr Goma: Good morning.

KB: Were you surprised by this verdict today.

Mr Goma: I am very surprised to see... this verdict to come on me because I was not expecting that.....

The look on Mr Goma's face when he realises he's in the wrong place at the wrong time is priceless. To his credit he proceeds to answer the questions as well as he could given the circumstances. He wins the Insanity We Trust "Play of the Week".

Another Guy

Speaking of Neil Young's ( I loved Harvest, and also the song Southern Man so glad to see he is still doing it.) new album Living With War I read his lyrics and always liked his rythms this song's lyrics puzzle me because a as a Canadian who chose to leave Canada and immigrate to the USA in the 70's I would think he would know a bit more about living with war in his country of choice, the USA. I appreciate his concern for Iraqs living with war, however Iraq is safer than many other countries and also at least 3 major cities in the USA as they have higher violent death rates than Iraq: Atlanta, Baltimore, and the capital of the USA, Washington DC. The link showing the stats is below and perhaps may I suggest would be a nice addtion on your website right under his album for a bit of karmic balance as they say.

Pickle Me!

Hungarian builders working on a house rennovation drained a large barrel of rum on site. The rum was noted to have had a "special taste". The emptied barrel was still quite heavy and closer examination revealed a pickled corpse. It seems the barrel had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by the deceased man's wife who was looking to avoid costs and paperwork.
